Welcome to Malaga!

I just started the final workshop of my master program, I'm now in Sevilla. And our project there is located in Malaga, on the Costa del Sol.

We've been there during the week, visiting the city and the site; Los Baños des Carmen, a former leisure and tourist centre on the seaside.
Despite the light rain and strong wind, I was able to paint on site (using an old tuna can as water pot), as well as taking a few photos.


During the next few weeks, I'll post updates of the project as well as photos and sketches of sevilla. Until then, keep up the happy blogging!

Guinea pigs in lisboa + extras

Third week in Lisbon, the weather is bad, grey, wet and windy. As you can see, Portugal isn't all about sun an heat, they have storms too.

Two small drawings I made weeks ago, when the weather started to go crazy, next to Cais do Sodre, on the riverside.

Apart from watercolour, I was asked by my flatmates to draw a guinea pig on the wall. Not just any guinea pig, but this one. Long story.

I started by doing it on paper, as well as a regular pig, since I wasn't sure of the result. I did it with charcoal, easier to work with (especially on such a scale)

(that's where I realise that despite not taking anatomical drawing classes in first year, I can draw living stuff. Still no naked women on my sketchbook though)

This morning, after checking the chaotic weather (and deciding I had nothing more ugent to do that didn't involve going out), I started.

Soon, more wall drawings, probably in every room here. And some results form tallin's workshop. I promise.

Tallinn - Seaside in autumn

A quick selection of shots made a few weeks ago, when I was still in Tallinn. I went to have a walk in the north of the city, in the former military area. An old prison, Patarei, and a concert / sport hall built in 1980 for the Moscow Olympic Games.

It was a windy day, so no sketches, only photographs. This area is right now preserved in a stasis, no demolition of this patrimonial part of the city, but no renovation either. Some final projects of the first class of my master program took place in Patarei, the former prison.

Soon, a quick presentation of our work (our works) here in Tallinn, before flying to Lisbon again.

last days in Lisboa

Passage éclair l'avant dernier jour Portugais sur le site de l'expo internationale de 1998. Du Siza, du Calatrava, mais plein d'autres choses pas prises en photo parce que - je suis un boulet - j'avais pas rechargé la batterie.

Gare d'Oriente, par Calatrava. En novembre, je retourne à Lisbonne, j'espère y retourner un jour ensoleillé, les palmiers d'acier et de verre, la structure, tout est vraiment réussi (malgré une légère patine sale - ça date de 98)

La galerie commerciale devant la gare, avec sa  voûte vitrée recouverte... d'eau. Oui, pour garder ça propre, et parce que c'est classe (et que ces portugais sont du genre à aimer ce superflu classe), il y a de l'eau qui ruisselle sur la voûte en continu.

Dans la veine des palmiers, je crois que ceux-ci sont de Siza, mais je n'ai pas demandé. Ils sont un peu partout dans la zone de l'expo de 98.

Le souci du détail, les cadrages, les matériaux, c'est l'un des plus beaux bâtiments que j'ai vu pendant ces 6 semaines, et paradoxalement, c'est le seul qui n'ait pas d'utilité. L'architecture peut-elle — comme l'art — ne pas avoir d'utilité?
